My Story and Some Résumé
Hello, in case you had not already figured it out my name is Marcus Neto. I live and play on the Gulf Coast of Alabama near Mobile. My wife and I moved our family here in 2004 right before Hurricane Ivan. Talk about a welcome wagon. Moving here from Washington D.C. was a whirlwind decision and Ivan manifested that in a very real way.
I grew up in Washington D.C.. D.C. is also where I met my wonderful wife. We are high school sweethearts. We started dating in Oct of 1991 and we've been married since 1997. D.C. is where 2 out of 3 of our sons were born. Our third is a native of lower Alabama and was born in Fairhope.
Peruse the site and you'll find my likes are photography, design, being on or near the water, and the laughter of my family. Oh... and ice cream, but I have had to cut back on that quite a bit lately as I try and get back in shape in my old age.
I founded a company in 2005 called Blue Fish Design Studio. Blue Fish is a Digital Marketing company. We help folks with things like SEO, Web Design, branding, and web application development. I love what I do. Running a business is stressful at times but I work with a great bunch of folks. We get to work on some fun projects that keep us satisfied professionally.
Previously, I was the Director of Business Development and Product Evangelist for EllisLab. EllisLab is a software company that makes ExpressionEngine. I worked for EllisLab for a year and a half demoing ExpressionEngine to close to 100 design studios, Fortune 500 companies and independent consultants. I also spoke at conferences on EllisLab's behalf. I was in charge of promoting the work done by design studios and freelancers in the community to elevate the awareness of EE in the web design community at large. I helped quadruple their Meet-up groups, helped double the size of their Pro Network and was instrumental in the planning of their Support Plans. I think ExpressionEngine is a great platform for building websites and if you need someone to write a blog post, demo ExpressionEngine, or speak at an event about EE I am your guy.
Prior to Blue Fish I worked in various roles like Performance Tester, Systems Analyst, Technical Sales Consultant and just Consultant. I have worked on hundred million dollar systems and $500 dollar websites. The constant in my careers is that I enjoy helping people understand the technology and how it can empower them.
Thanks for stopping by my website.
