I spent nearly two decades running a service business in Mobile, Alabama. Managing clients, writing proposals, chasing reports, onboarding new accounts, keeping the wheels turning. I know what that grind feels like — because I lived it for a long time.
About three years ago I started building AI into those workflows. Not as an experiment. Out of necessity. And what I found changed the way I think about running a business entirely.
Now I help other service business owners do the same — skip the trial and error, cut the busywork, and build systems that actually hold up.
Marcus grew up in the Washington D.C. area and moved to Mobile in 2004 — two weeks before Hurricane Ivan. Not exactly a soft landing.
He worked his way through James Madison University behind the counter at Lowe's, a company obsessed with customer service. That shaped everything that came after. Every role he's held since — performance tester, systems analyst, technical sales consultant, communications director — has been about one thing: helping people understand technology and use it to their advantage.
In 2007 he founded Blue Fish, a digital marketing agency serving small and medium-sized businesses. Nineteen years of client work, proposals, reporting, team management, and operational grind gave him a front-row seat to exactly where service businesses lose time — and where AI fixes it.
Outside of work he's into photography, design, and being near the water. And ice cream. He really likes ice cream.
"I'm not here to sell you software. I'm here to show you where AI solves a real problem in your business — and then build it with you."
Worked through JMU behind the counter. Learned customer service from a company obsessed with it.
Performance tester, systems analyst, technical sales consultant. Worked on $100M systems alongside $500 websites.
