Kick butt turkey chili guarunteed to make you lose weight or your money back

So in all seriousness I make some of the tastiest turkey chili this side of the moon. And it is so easy to make I figured some of you slow carb folks would want the recipe. I have seen great results when I eat this at lunch as a replacement for the usual fast food / sandwich shop meals we all typically eat.

So here goes:

  • 2 pounds of ground Turkey
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper (minced)
  • 1 Sweet Onion (minced)
  • 2-3 tablespoons garlic (minced)
  • 3 cans of black beans (drain and rinse)
  • 1 large can of cut up tomatoes
  • 1 small can of tomato paste
  • 1 beer (your choice)
  • 1 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • Cumin (3-4 tablespoons)
  • Chili Powder to taste (3-4 tablespoons)
  • Ground Red Pepper to taste (2-4 teaspoons for me but I am a wimp)

So basically you brown the turkey in a big pot. I typically use 1-2 inches of water in the bottom of the pan to keep the turkey from sticking. In the past when I have added Olive Oil it has not kept the turkey from sticking. I still use Olive Oil but for the basic goodness of Olive Oil.

Once the turkey is browned I add the Bell Pepper, Onion and Garlic and let it brown them as well. Just a few minutes goes a long way. Now take 2-3 handfuls of the black beans and squeeze them real hard to where they almost make a paste. Add the black beans and the rest of the ingredients. Simmer for 20 minutes or so.

I have also done a Paleo version of this chili by omitting the beans. Still tastes awesome and even better for you!

This chili tastes even better the next day!
